v-15-g501

After the Lenovo Y50 came the Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition – notebooks that boast ridiculously thin profile for gaming machines. Both laptops originally pack inside NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M, but this year we’ve got the updated versions with GTX 960M. You can read all about Y50 here and as for the Aspire V15 Nitro (VN-591G) here.

But it seems that Lenovo and Acer aren’t the only ones going for a thin gaming notebooks and ASUS is another major vendor who wants a piece of the pie in this segment. The Taiwanese company is joining the fun with its new ASUS ROG 501 – brand new notebook with 21.3 mm thin profile (for the record, Y50 measures at 24.5 mm, while the Aspire VN-591 is 23.25 mm) making the G501 thinner than both of its competitors. So, how will this new powerhouse get along with the extra heat from the internals? This is going to be a tough job for sure and we have the Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition to prove it, not to mention the unsatisfying results from Y50. You will have to wait for our upcoming detailed review of the model, but in the meantime you can check this video aimed to inform you about the internal build and the design of the cooling system.

However, let’s get to the interesting part where we have a few GPU benchmarks and gaming test conducted with the latest drivers from NVIDIA – 350.5.
