27151_1_intel_rejects_the_idea_that_they_are_going_bga_only_full-300x267-300x267As you know, Broadwell is the microarchitecture codename for Intel’s latest 5th generation Core processors. They are part of the tick-tock strategy and they are fabricated through 14 nm technology.

The new generation has already been launched, but there are very few laptop models. Which are the first companies who have adopted the new CPUs?

Our market analysis which covers 16 European countries shows that they are six mobile Broadwell CPUs on the market now, if we exclude the ultraportable Core M models (for now) – Intel Core i3-5005U, Core i3-5010U, Core i5-5200U, Core i5-5300U, Core i7-5500U and Core i7-5600U. We’re already testing them and they will land in our CPU Ranking page soon (i7-5500U is already there).

As (almost) always, Acer is the first, or one of the first companies to implement the latest technologies in their portfolio and Broadwell is not an exception. Its mainstream machine, Aspire E5-571 was the first on the market, which came out with a Broadwell processor – Core i5-5200U in particular.

Next in line was HP, which launched its Envy 15/17 and Pavilion 13/15/17 models with i5-5200U and i7-5500U, and now, there are seven companies which offer Broadwell notebooks – Acer, ASUS, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo and Toshiba. Acer is still holding the crown with 366 modifications that include new Broadwells leading Dell by a factor of almost two – the American company offers 196 configurations. HP is third with 83, Lenovo has 69 and the top 5 is completed by ASUS and its 47 offers. Fujitsu and Toshiba has 19 and 4 configurations, respectively.
